His prolific involvement in the Middle East would end in tragedy in 2014, but his work helped to expose the suffering of thousands of Syrian citizens living under a cruel and terroristic regime. Though he began his professional life as a teacher in the Midwest, Foley would go on to have a storied career in wartime journalism, covering events that transpired all over the globe.
